Willis W. Buckingham

Willis W. Buckingham, 89 of Fort Dodge, died Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at his residence. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2007 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center with the Rev. Bill Kerns officiating.  Interment will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Walter Porsch VFW Post 1856.  Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Willis was born October 2, 1917 the son of William and Carolyn (Fossen) Buckingham in Dakota City, Iowa.  On June 17, 1949 Willis was united in marriage to Marjorie Lee.

Willis was inducted into the United States Army on June 9, 1942 and was honorably discharged on September 21, 1945. 

Willis loved spending time watching and feeding the wildlife especially the birds and squirrels.  He enjoyed going fishing for relaxation and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.  Willis was a life member of the VFW, American Veterans and American Legion.

Those thankful for having shared in Willis life include his wife Marjorie, one daughter; Laurie Adam of Lohrville, one sister; Grace (Dale) Messerly of Fort Dodge, one granddaughter; Amanda (Barry) Johnson of Ames, and two great grandchildren; Adam and Carlie.

Mr. Buckingham was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons; Brian and Daniel Adam, two sisters; Esther Glass, Blanche Chamberlain and two brothers; Ralph and Eugene Buckingham.
