Willie Vernon George Jr., 59, of Fort Dodge died Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Monday, April 3 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center with the Rev. Phil Somsen officiating. Friends may join the family in a time of remembrance one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Willie was born August 3, 1946 in Little Rock, Arkansas the son of Willie Sr. and DaLoryse J. (White) George. He was a Basic Airman with the United States Air Force from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1964. On October 20, 1997 he was united in marriage to Paula S. Ford. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, water skiing, hiking and spending time outdoors. He adored his pets, Nakita, Ivy and Lokee, and cherished time with his friends. Willie and Paula enjoyed going for a drive and getting ice cream, he even was known to get ice cream for the dog. Mr. George was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Vietnam Veterans of America.

Those thankful for having shared in Willies life include his wife; step-children Nicholas Ford, Stephanie Peterson and Jordyn Peterson all of Fort Dodge; sisters Nita George-Stephens of Fort Worth, TX, Freddie Green of Fort Worth, TX and Lynda George of Fort Worth, TX; brother Kenneth W. George of Cleveland, TX. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; special friends Kevin Lowe and Gill Morehead.

Willie is preceded in death by his parents.
