William M. Harden
William Maurice Harden, 99, of Otho, entered his heavenly eternal home Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House. Pastor Dennis Shepherd, of the United Methodist Church in Otho, will officiate a celebration of his life at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Otho Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
William was born on August 28, 1909, to David and Emily (Duncan) Harden. He was educated in Boone County schools. On June 3, 1935, he married Gladys Elizabeth Richmond in Mankato, Minnesota. William worked in coal mines at Kalo Brick and Tile, at Johnson Clayworks and retired from Celotex Corporation in 1971 after 26 years.
William was a member of the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being a loving husband and best friend to his wife of 73 years, and spending weekends and holidays with family. His interests included traveling, playing cards, square dancing, reading, hunting and fishing.
William is survived by his two daughters: Joan Harden of Phoenix, Arizona, and Linda (Dennis) Heidick of Pharr, Texas. He was blessed with two grandchildren: Luann Heidick of Phoenix, Arizona and Matthew (Sandi) Heidick of Ankeny, Iowa, four great grandchildren: Jacob, Madison, Elias and Jocelyn Heidick of Ankeny, Iowa, one sister: Hilma Hasstedt, one brother in law: Wayne (Doloris) Richmond both of Boone, Iowa. William is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harden was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son: Maurice, one sister: Loretta Elliott and one brother: John Harden.
William will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
