Funeral Services for Wayne A. Axness 81 of Fort Dodge will be Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge with Rev. John Sersland officiating. Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to services. Entombment will be in North Lawn Cemetery with military honors provided by the U. S Air Force and the Fort Dodge V.F.W. Post 1856.
Wayne Allen Axness was born November 15, 1936 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Raymond and Pearl (Bradley) Axness. He grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High. He then attended Fort Dodge Junior College. Wayne also served in the U.S. Air National Guard. He was united in marriage to Pamela Mori in August of 1975. The family resided in Fort Dodge. Wayne was always a very hard worker who cared about people and would always lend a hand. He did carpentry work, was a car salesman and did various other jobs. The family loved spending time at the cabin on Lake Okoboji where he was a grill master, barbequing everything from burgers to roasts. He loved playing golf and being a member a Lakeside Golf Club for many years. Wayne most of all adored his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Pamela, four step daughters; Cheri (Jeff) Grell, Kim Jorgensen, Michele (Brian) Bullock, and Celeste Mori, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild soon to be born; Jacob, Adam and Laura Grell, Austin and Nathan Jorgensen, Peyton and Emily Bullock and Sierra Fredrickson. He is also survived by his four siblings; Darrell (Jeanette) Axness, Gary (Nancy) Axness, Rose (Larry) Adams and Terry (Bev) Axness.
