Funeral services for Virginia Marie McBride will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa with Rev. Dr. James Chestnutt officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday 4pm to 7pm and continue on Thursday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Virginia Marie McBride was born October 28, 1933 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Lester B. Arnold Crouse and Dorthy Elizabeth (Merrill) Crouse. She attended school in Coalville and graduated in 1950 from Fort Dodge High School. She attended Iowa State Teachers College. Virginia taught for two years in Webster County Rural School. She was united in marriage to Ernest Eugene McBride on May 3, 1953. The couple settled in Fort Dodge and she was a teacher associate for 26 years in the Fort Dodge Community (Otho Elementary) and worked at Safeway Grocery for several years. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, camping and fishing. She was a member of the Otho United Methodist Church and its Womens Bible Study Group.
Virginia died Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She is survived by two sons, Mickey (Janet) McBride and Larry (Lynn) McBride both of Fort Dodge, four grandchildren; Merissa (Bruce) Ewing of Otho, Amie (Chase) Harrison of Otho, Haley (John) Burns of Des Moines and Katie Cswercko of Fort Dodge, five great grandchildren; Austin McBride, Tristan Ewing, Makenzie Ewing, Kierstan Ewing and Jacksen Harrison. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2006, and brother Gene Crouse. Memorials are preferred to Otho United Methodist Women.
