Virginia Halligan

Virginia Halligan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 21 after a short illness. She was 82.

Virginia Lou Trost was born on July 23, 1931 in Clare, Iowa. The third of three daughters, she was raised on a farm in Deer Creek Township.  She attended Clare and Fort Dodge community schools.  She married  William Jean Halligan on September 7, 1953. They were married for 58 years until his death in October, 2011.  She had two children, Holly and Erin.

Gin, as she was known, had a long career at the Centel Telephone Company. Upon retirement, she spent time with her lifelong love, her dogs. She also had an keen interest in court TV, folk remedies, and cooking.

Virginia Halligan won the admiration and respect of her family for her kind heart, her thoughtful listening, and her willingness to put the needs of others before herself. Always reserved, she possessed a quiet dignity, a devotion to honesty, and a surprising wit. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Friday, January 25 at 10:00 a.m.
