Violet F Phillips

Funeral Services for Violet F. Phillips will be Monday, September 11, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge with Rev. John Sersland officiating. Visitation will be Sunday 4pm to 7pm at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to services. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery. She died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Friendship Haven.

Violet Fern Lund Phillips was born February 1, 1927 in Badger, Iowa to Andrew and Elsie (Flamme) Lund. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1944. Violet was united in marriage to Richard Phillips on May 12, 1946. The family lived in Badger for a short time before residing in Fort Dodge. She worked for Expo Health Care for a number of years and also part time at Woolworth's. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Celebrating family holidays were very important to Violet, as she will always be remembered for her fried chicken and Christmas cookies.

Violet is survived by her children; Doug (Jeannie) Phillips of Sparta, IL, Ronald Phillips of Fort Dodge, Sue (Bill) Posey of Fort Dodge, Dave Phillips of Ackley, and Danny Phillips of Fort Dodge. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, 2 sons Tim and Randy, siblings Marlys Fischer and Milo Lund, 3 daughters-in law Sharon, Ginger and Ruth Ann, and grandson Nicholas.
