Travis was born December 9, 1986, in Aurora, CO, the son of Lois Jolene (Perry) and Terry L. Canavan. He attended East Greene High School in Grand Junction. Travis had a profound appreciation for the great outdoors, relishing in hobbies such as hunting and fishing. His love for nature was matched only by his dedication to spending quality time with his children, creating cherished memories that will forever resonate in their hearts. Travis was a dedicated professional in the agricultural industry. His hands-on skills as a carpenter showcased his commitment to quality and craftsmanship; he took pride in ensuring that every project was executed to such a high standard that it reflected his desire to do things "right." A hallmark of Travis's character was his willingness to lend a hand to others. He was particularly known for his compassionate nature—helping strangers, assisting the elderly during harsh winter storms, and always being a friend to those in need. Children were naturally drawn to him, finding comfort and joy in his presence. Travis possessed a straightforward demeanor; he would candidly address people when they were mistaken. His honesty and straightforwardness were admirable traits; he wouldn't hesitate to share his perspective, always advocating for what he believed to be right. He earned the nickname of “old outlaw” for his independent spirit and willingness to live life on his own terms. Those who knew him admired his good sense of humor, as he loved to surprise people with his playful antics.

Travis is survived by his 4 children: Talon Canavan of Boone, IA, Taylor Canavan of Boone, Hayleigh Canavan of Ogden, IA and Zaylin Canavan of Boxholm, IA; his extended children: Grant Palmer of Ogden, Jenna Palmer of Ogden, Gavin Palmer of Ogden, Gavin Fyler of Boxholm, Mayknzi Fyler of Boxholm and Jaxon Fyler of Boxholm; his mother: Jolene Lang and husband Martin of Fort Dodge; his father: Terry Canavan of Jefferson, IA; 4 siblings: Lauri Henderson and fiancé Trevor Garms of Rockwell City, IA, Trevor Canavan of Boone, Billie Jo Hovick of Jefferson, and James Canavan of Texas; and his grandfather: Dick Leedom of Jefferson. He is also survived by his nephews: Briggs Thomas (baby Briggs) of Boone and Zachary Henderson of Fort Dodge; niece: Abi Henderson and fiancé Colton Shull of Miles, IA; and other numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Carroll Perry, Donita Christy, and Evelyn Leedom; and uncle:  Terry Christy.
