Thomas Lee Gibson, 77, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at his home. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. 

Thomas was born April 21, 1947, in Margaretville, NY, the son of Lee and Hilda (Bordaux) Gibson. He attended school in Upstate New York. In 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1969. On July 23, 1977, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Diane (Coleman). Tom loved dancing with his wife. Their relationship was a beautiful partnership and he often expressed that she was his true love and had saved his life in more ways than one. Together they created wonderful memories. Their bond stood as an inspiring testament to love’s enduring power. Tom dedicated his life to helping others. He was known for his generous nature, always eager to lend a hand whenever needed, especially in support of children. He enjoyed camping & hunting and could often be found tinkering in his garage. As a true Mountain Man, he embraced the great outdoors, having embarked on a remarkable journey hitchhiking across the United States. This adventurous spirit was further exemplified by his love for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Tom worked as a welder for many years.

Tom is survived by his daughter: Heather Gibson of Fort Dodge; step-children: Gary Buelt of Nevada, IA and Tina Pederson and husband Richard of Des Moines, IA; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 7 siblings: Leanne Marescotto of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, Patty Hazlett and husband Fred of Binghamton, NY, Cindy Hazlett and husband Bruce of St. Nicholas, PA, Bill Murphy and wife Laurie of Fort Dodge, Mike Murphy and wife Donna of Jefferson, ME, Al Murphy and wife Tracy of Clare, IA and Matt Murphy and wife Louise of Callicoon, NY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2015; sister: Linda Vausse; and daughter-in-law: Carol Buelt.
