Sue was born December 27, 1948, in Cherokee, IA, the daughter of Earlyn and Bonnie (Baird) Quirin. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1967, and continued her education at Mercy School of Nursing in Iowa City where she graduated in 1971 after earning her BA Degree in Nursing. She was united in marriage to Don Long. The couple later divorced. Sue had a great love for Westies and all fur babies which was evident to all who crossed her path. She dedicated her time to helping at dog shows, spreading joy and companionship to our four-legged friends. In addition to her love for animals, Sue had a creative side, indulging in the art of jewelry making. Professionally, Sue's impact was profound. She began her career at the University of Iowa Hospital in the Surgery Department, where she honed her skills and nurtured a passion for patient care. Her journey eventually led her to the Denver Colorado area, where she spent decades dedicated to her work. As a skilled OR and Urology Nurse, Sue's expertise and compassion touched the lives of many, making a difference in the field of healthcare until her well-deserved retirement in 2011. She was a member of the American Nurses Association.

Sue is survived by her brother: Scott Quirin of Lohrville; her aunt: Sheryl Marsh of Oceanside, CA; as well as several loving cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
