Sophia J. McBride, 88, of Otho, died Sunday March 14, 2004 at the Marian Home, Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at Bruce’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Fort Dodge. Officiating will be the Rev. Bryon L. Wixom of the Otho United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Fort Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Sophia was born June 22, 1915 the daughter of Henry and Sophia (Kopesky) Rosicka in Selma, Alabama. She began working at the Globe Union in 1949 and after 23 years of service she retired in 1972.

On December 8, 1934 Sophia was united in marriage to Ora L. McBride in Bolivar, MO. To this union one daughter was born.

Sophia loved being outdoors hunting mushrooms in the spring or fishing in the summer and fall months. She was very fond of crocheting, quilting, doing puzzles, or playing cards. Sophia especially enjoyed the time spent with her family and friends.

Sophia was a member of the Otho United Methodist Church.

Those thankful for having shared in Sophia’s life include her daughter, Deloris (Richard) Grady of Las Vegas, NV, four grandsons, Rick, Kelly, Joe, and Steve Grady, three great grandsons, Christopher, Sean, and Nicholas Grady, and one great great grandson, Aydin Christopher Grady.

Mrs. McBride was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ora, three sisters, and three brothers.
