Ruth “Liz” Larson
Ruth “Liz” Elizabeth Larson, 83, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, December 15, 2006 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2006 at the Friendship Haven Celebration Center with Rev. Ron Kitterman officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, December 17 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center and one hour prior to services at the Celebration Center on Monday.
Liz was born on June 14, 1923 the daughter of Cornelius and Elizabeth (Haugland) Larson on the family farm near Callender. She attended and graduated from the Somers High School. She worked for Montgomery-Wards as a bookkeeper for twenty five years. When the store closed she cared for her mother until she passed away in 1982. She later went on to work for Home Furniture and Diamonds, both in Fort Dodge.
In her early years she enjoyed bowling and being part of a local bowling league. More recently she enjoyed knitting and taking part in the activities at Friendship Haven; she especially liked the challenge of putting puzzles together.
Those thankful for having shared in Lizs life include her sister-in-law Grace Larson of Indianola; nieces, Ann Halligan of Stillwater, OK, Karen McCubbin of Omaha, NE, Sonja Mooberry of Basehor, KS, Janet Briggs of Des Moines and Ann Smith of Detroit, MI; nephews, Gerald Sorenson of Fort Dodge and Eric Larson of Wichita, KS. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
Liz is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Agnes Larson and Lenore Sorenson; brothers, John Larson and Karl Larson.
