Funeral Services for Ruby Chase 94 of Fort Dodge, formerly of Otho will be Friday, November 27, 2015 at 10:30 at First Covenant Church in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be Thursday November 26, 2015 from 4pm to 7pm at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home and will continue on Friday at the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Otho Cemetery.
Ruby Irene Chase, formerly of Otho, passed away November 18, 2015 at the Villa Cottages, after a short illness. Ruby was born November 3, 1921 to Arthur and Clara (Newburg) Olson on a farm near Dayton, Iowa. She attended school in Burnside and Dayton graduating from Burnside High School in 1939. Ruby was united in marriage to Norland Chase on October 11, 1941 in Grant City, Missouri. The couple farmed near Otho. She is survived by her two children; Dennis (Jeri) Chase of Otho, IA and Larry (Vicki) Chase of Rockledge, FL, 5 grandchildren; Scott Chase of Sioux City, IA, Tammie (Bruce) Antle of Sioux City, IA, Jennifer Kennedy of Eagle Grove, IA, Brett (Jennifer) Chase of Melbourne, FL, and Nathan Chase of Rockledge, FL, 8 great grandchildren; Ashley (Kevin) Bieniek, Chase Antle, Jarrett Chase, Connor Chase, Makinzy Kennedy, Karter Kennedy, Taylor Chase and Kennedy Farnam. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norland, Parents Arthur and Clara Olson, brothers Roy Olson, Floyd Olson and a sister Evlyn Wachel.
Ruby was a 50 year member of the Otho Kalo Community Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was member of the Ladies Missionary Society and a volunteer custodian at the church for several years. In recent years, she attended First Covenant Church in Fort Dodge. She lived in her same home form 1948 – 2014 on the Otho farm. Ruby was a resident advocate at Ellen's Nursing Home for many years. She also transported her elderly church friends to their medical appointments and grocery shopping. Ruby had a special place in her heart for her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
