Ronald “Ron” M. Koppen, 82, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Thursday, September 2, 2021, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 10, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church, 211 S. 9th Street, with Pastor Dan Kahl officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Ronald was born March 8, 1939, in Fort Dodge, the son of Myron and Ruth (King) Koppen. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1957, and continued his education at Iowa Central Community College. On June 7, 1968, he was united in marriage to Trudy Reeck at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Over the years, he worked at a variety of places including Dickey Clay and Norwest Bank until his retirement. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing high school football & basketball, and working on & racing his cars. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, drawing and painting. Ron was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Ron is survived by his wife of 53 years: Trudy Koppen of Fort Dodge; 3 children: Lisa Steuby of St. Louis, MO, Teri Tabb and husband Larry of Los Angeles, CA, and Heather Koppen and boyfriend P.J. of Fairfield, IA; 10 grandchildren: Sydney Tabb, Rachel Tabb, Henry Steuby, George Steuby, Charlotte Steuby, Isabella Perucca, Leo Perucca, Angelo Miller, Mia Koppen and Gianna Koppen; 2 siblings: Paul Koppen and wife Becky of Woolstock, IA and Joyce Gailey of Fort Dodge; sister and brothers-in-law: Ethelynn Tuel and husband Ken of Fort Dodge, Marty Reeck and wife Pam of Fort Dodge and Larry Reeck and wife Carolyn of Bend, OR. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Lynn Perucca; granddaughter: Olivia Koppen; mother and father-in-law: Ethel and Fred Reeck; brother-in-law: John Gailey; and sister-in-law: Kamma Jorgensen and husband Jim.
