Ronald Lee Eastman was born August 8, 1933 in Olivia, Minnesota to Kenneth and Albina (Julius) Eastman. The family moved to Callender, Iowa and Ron attended Callender Public Schools graduating in 1952. He served in the United States Army as Military Police during the Korean War and in Austria and Germany. Ron worked for area businesses before starting his own carpentry business. He was well known for his craftsmanship especially his cabinets. Ron was united in marriage to Mary “Jane” McNealy on July 20, 1974. The couple settled in Callender, Iowa where they owned and operated a bar and later owned and operated a bar in Gilmore City. Ron continued his carpentry business and loved working with wood throughout his life, creating many artistic keepsakes.
On March 26, 2018 he died at his daughter's home in Gowrie, Iowa. Ronald is survived by his six children; Tanya (Ivan) Starkey of Cape Coral, FL, Brenda (Todd) Kisler of Fort Dodge, Kindy (Nate) Monroe of Gowrie, Paula (Bob) Tiese of Algona, Ken (Laurie) Eastman of Stillwater, OK, and Sandy (Leon) Loney of Humboldt, He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and brother Larry Eastman of Callender. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Brandon, a sister Shirley Eastman and wife Jane in December of 2017.
As per his wishes there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at Ralph's Moorland Tap on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 5 to 7.
