Rollan Bud Graves, 88, formerly of Fort Dodge, died Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Stratford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home for family and friends to celebrate Buds life.

Rollan was born May 31, 1923 the son of Luther and Mabel Graves in Burnside, Iowa. Bud was inducted in the United States Army on April 1, 1942 serving his country until his honorable discharge on November 19, 1945. During his tour Bud was a Cannoneer and received his Rifle Marksman on December 24, 1943. Following his service to his country, Bud became employed at by the Iowa Gas and Electric Company as a lineman. He retired after 38 years of service to them.

 

Rollan was united in marriage to Rose Mary McClain on May 28, 1948 and to this union 12 children were born.

 

Bud loved to play the organ, work in the yard and tend to his garden. He also had a passion for collecting coins and enjoyed traveling while Rose and his health permitted.

Bud was a member of the Local International Brotherhood of Electrical workers.

Those thankful for having shared in Rollans life include his children; Jimmie Graves, Susan (Jim) Berreth, Vicky (Joe) Baldridge, Nancy Graves, Glenda Sigler, Tracy Graves, Allan Graves, Mary Lindstrom, Kelly (Marian) Graves and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Graves was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rose, three sons; William, Bobby and Terry Graves, three sisters; Dorothy Bockoven, Lola Stoner, Della Hoban and two brothers; Francis and Harold Graves.
