Roger L. Hansel was born July 15, 1935 on a farm, near Vincent, Iowa to Pauline Hansel. He attended public schools in Vincent and Alexander. He farmed with his grandfather for a few years and then enlisted in the Air National Guard, serving for 14 years. He was united in marriage to Jane Egeland in 1954. The couple settled in Fort Dodge later moving to rural Hardy, Iowa where they farmed. Three children were born to this union. Ronald, Mary Ann, and Philip.
On September 30, 1982 Roger married Linda Madsen. They farmed in Chariton until 1995 when they moved to Fort Dodge. He worked at Smith Way for a number of years. Roger enjoyed doing carpentry work especially building end tables and entertainment centers. He also liked tinkering in his garage and working on cars.
He is survived by his wife Linda of Fort Dodge, his children; Ronald Hansel of Lucas, Iowa, Mary Ann (Dennis) Ernst of Early. Texas, and Philip Hansel of Johnston, Iowa. Also survived by 4 grandsons, and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, first wife Jane.
