Robert C. Lacina, 84 of Badger, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at The Marian Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2006 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Officiating will be the Rev. David Grindberg of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. A presentation of the colors will be conducted by the Walter Porsch Post 1856 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will gather for a time of reflection and sharing one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Robert was born May 1, 1921 the son of John and Nellie (Crowley) Lacina in rural Webster Co. He graduated from the Fort Dodge Senior High School with the class of 1938. On March 17, 1939 Robert was united in marriage to Betty Ann Cox to this union two children were born. Robert was later united in marriage to Betty B. Greenway.

Robert entered into active duty in the United States Army in February of 1943 and was honorably discharged on November 22, 1945.

Following his tour in the service Robert returned to the Badger area where the couple moved onto the farm in 1946. Roberts heart and soul were dedicated to the farm and his passions grew deep roots there. He immersed himself in the activities and duties of the farm and loved working with his livestock. Robert was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing the rivers, and going hunting. The couple spent several winters on South Padre Island, Texas. Robert was a life member of the Walter Porsch Post 1856 of the V.F.W.; he was also a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

Those thankful for having shared in his life include his daughter; Diane Carter and her husband Mark of Fort Dodge, seven grandchildren; Lorie Lacina, Kim Whittington, Rick Farrell, Mark Farrell, Lisa Sortedahl, John Lacina, and Ryan Farrell, three step grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.

Mr. Lacina was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one son; Alan Lacina, and six brothers.
