Robert C. Blair
Robert C. Blair, 83, of Fort Dodge, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday April 25, 2008 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home with the Rev. Karen Berg officiating. Interment will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Robert was born June 8, 1924 the son of Earl and Betty (Henrichs) in Bemidji, MN. After serving in the United States Navy Robert returned to Fort Dodge to be united in marriage to Evelyn Smith on August 28, 1946.
Robert was a truck driver for Smithway Motor Express for many years before taking the supervisor position of the car flattening division. Following retirement Robert would return to Smithway on occasion to assist with the scrap iron.
Robert loved the outdoors whether riding his trike, hunting or on a fishing excursion. He enjoyed helping others especially running errands when one would call. He had a soft spot in his heart for his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his great great grandson. Robert was a great cook who liked to eat what he prepared. Robert was a member of Abate, the Brotherhood Of The 3rd Wheel.
Those thankful for having shared in Roberts life include his three children; Francis Butch (Linda) Blair of Duncombe, Linda (Danny) Klein of Fort Dodge, Toni Schmalen (Rick Ayala) of Fort Dodge, one sister; Florence Oxidine, twelve grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
Mr. Blair was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter; Roberta Bobbi, one brother; William, one great grandson; Dustin Long, mother in law; Bessie Dumdei and son in law; Mark Schmalen.
