Robert "Bobby" V. Helgeson

Robert “Bobby” V. Helgeson, 64, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1436 21st Avenue North – Fort Dodge, with Pastor Nicholas Thackery officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the church service. Interment will take place at North Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. 

Robert was born June 21, 1960, in Fort Dodge, the son of Robert T. and Marilyn J. (Craft) Helgeson. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1980. For many years he worked at Sandstone Inn (dishwasher) as well as an in-home daycare. Bobby's love for bowling brought him countless hours of enjoyment. Bobby passionately supported the Iowa Hawkeyes and was frequently seen cheering for them during their games. His love for football brought him many joy-filled afternoons at Fourth Street Depot where he was surrounded by familiar faces. A lover of books and social media, Bobby enjoyed reading and was adept at navigating social media platforms like Facebook, where he stayed connected with friends near and far. He also loved music and enjoyed watching movies - especially 'The Sound of Music'. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Bobby is survived by 3 siblings: Linda Althoff and husband Stan of Princeton, MN, David Helgeson and husband Jim of New Jersey and Joe Doerring and wife Sandy of Des Moines, IA; sister-in-law: Janet Cassidy. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers: Steve Cassidy and Rob Helgeson.
