Robert “Bob” Blunt, 74, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, July 13, 2006 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2006 at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church with Rev. John R. Lohman officiating. Burial will follow the service in the North Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Walter Porsch V.F.W. Post 1856. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16 from 4-7 p.m. at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Bob was born November 9, 1931 the son of Virgil and Minnie (Johnson) Blunt in Fort Dodge. Upon graduating from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1950, he entered the Marine Corps where he served until his honorable discharge in 1954. Upon Bobs return home from his military service he became a brick layer by trade.. On February 27, 1955 he was united in marriage to Helen Hay in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Bob operated Woodsman Appliance for 10 years and most recently was employed by Wal-Mart.

Mr. Blunt was first and foremost a family man. His family focus was shown when he built the family home from start to finish. He was a member, along with Helen, of the Dodger Lions Club. He was also proud to be a 30 year member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church. He especially enjoyed time spent with his five grandchildren.

Those thankful for having shared in Bobs life include his wife Helen, children; Leah Sigler of Fort Dodge, Mark Blunt of Fort Dodge and Laura Thilges of Phoenix, Arizona, brothers; Vernon Blunt of Fort Dodge, Fred Blunt of Torrance, California and Jack Blunt of Fort Dodge, sisters; Ella Mae Nelson of Fort Dodge, Ilene Rink of Fort Dodge, Barbara Kutz of Twin Lakes, Iowa, Sharon Henderickson of Mount Pleasant, Iowa and Virgie Fey of Humboldt, grandchildren; Amanda Sigler, Tyler Blunt, Jenny Blunt, Eric Thilges and Mara Blunt, great-grandchild; Christopher Sigler.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, sister Doris Gast, and brother Delbert Blunt.
