Robert “Bob” Allen Jacobson 88 of Fort Dodge died at Friendship Haven surrounded by his family. He was born October 2, 1927 in Palmer, Iowa to Walter and Emily (Ethel) Jacobson. He grew up in the Palmer area and graduated from Palmer Schools. He then attended Buena Vista and graduated with a BA. He later attended the University of South Dakota where he attained his Master's Degree. Bob was united in marriage to Rebecca Peach on March 6, 1977 in Welcome, MN. He was a school teacher for a few years and he then served his country with the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. After the service, the family moved to Sheldon, Iowa where Bob sold insurance for a short time. Bob returned to the education field and was a counselor at Fort Dodge Public Schools, Waterloo and Burnside. After retiring from school, he kept busy by working part time at the lumber yard and drove truck. Bob's interests and hobbies included his love of animals, collecting automobiles, writing genealogy, and being a foster grandparent. Bob had great wisdom and loved many people.
Bob is survived by his wife Rebecca of Fort Dodge, son Douglas of Phoenix, AZ, daughter Linda Zehr of Fort Dodge, daughter Sally Wheeler of Fort Dodge and 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Wanda, two brothers, and infant son, Robbie.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge with Rev. John Elkin officiating. Visitation will be Monday, 5 – 7 and continue on Tuesday one hour prior to services. Burial with full Military Honors by the Fort Dodge V.F.W. and United States Marine Corp will held at the Fort Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery.
