Robert A. Nyght
Robert Axel Nyght, 86, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home. The Reverend David Grindberg of St. Olaf Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Walter Porsch V.F.W. Post 1856. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Robert was born April 15, 1921 the son of Axel and Mary (Graham) Nyght in Gowrie, Iowa. He attended Gowrie public school and entered the United States National Guard in 1939. He was honorably discharged after serving our nation for 4 years 9 months and 23 days. Upon his return from the service Robert farmed and later went to work at the National Gypsum Mill. He worked at the mill for 28 years. Gardening, fishing and hunting became his main stays following his retirement. Robert was an avid pool enthusiast as well.
Those thankful for having shared in Robert’s life include his wife Ruth, two daughters; Judy Fields of Paton, Carol Miller of Fort Dodge, one sister Margaret Whitcomb of Fort Dodge, five grandchildren; Jim P. Fields, Ann Forkner, Laurie Harris, Doug Miller, Rob Miller, and many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Nyght was preceded in death by his parents; Axel and Mary Nyght, one son; Howard, Twin sister; Betty Hamilton, grandson; Andrew Miller, two granddaughters; Kelly and Lisa Fields.
