Richard D. McCormick died February 17, 2015, at Fort Dodge Villa Care in Fort Dodge. Memorial services will be February 21, 2015 at 10:30 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Callender, Iowa with Rev. Jon Rollefson officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 20, 2015 from 2pm-4pm at Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Richard Dale McCormick was born May 24, 1940 in Algona, Iowa to Herbert and Mary (Meyer) McCormick. He served in the National Guard from 1956-1957. Richard was united in marriage to Pearl Millis on March 19, 1965. He was an over the road trucker, recycler, and last was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad, retiring in 1989. Richard was a member of the Eagles Club, enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage, rummy royal and dominoes. He was a life time member of the North American Fishing Club.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl of Fort Dodge, children; Eileen Long, Jonathan McCormick and Jerome McCormick all of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by step children; Dale Pierce, Randy Smith, Roger Smith, Patricia Strunk, and Renee Phifer, siblings; Cindy Timm, James Messerly, Wilbert Messerly, Marionette Johnson, and Amelia Schwartz along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step son Earl Kelly Jr., granddaughter, Angeleen and grandson, Robert.
