Memorial services for Richard C. Rose 66 of Graettinger will be Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran in Graettinger, Iowa with Rev. Chris Lange officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 p.m. also at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery in Graettinger.
Richard Charles Rose was born February 18, 1950 in Estherville, Iowa to Raymond and Mary Evelyn (Fogde) Rose. He grew up on the family farm near Graettinger and graduated from Graettinger High School in 1968. He continued his education at St. Olaf College graduating in 1972. Richard was united in marriage to Angela Schuett on September 7, 1974 in Holstein, Iowa. Rich was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was passionate about farming, raising cattle, fishing, hunting, traveling and boating. He always looked forward to spending the summer months at his home on Lost Island Lake. Rich was very involved with Graettinger community activities. He served as President of the Graettinger School Board for many years, served as the Bethel Lutheran President, and served on the Graettinger Development Board. Richard Charles Rose passed away on September 15, 2016 at the Emmetsburg Care Center.
Rich is survived by his wife Angie of Graettinger, his children; Wesley (Lindsay) Rose of Graettinger, and Lindsey (Greg) Smith of Green Bay, Wisconsin, three grandchildren; Wyatt and Amelia Rose and Vera Smith. He is also survived by his siblings; Cheryl Jacobsen of Galena, Illinois, Marcia Rose of Dubuque, Iowa and Roger (Carla) Rose of Graettinger. Rich was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Mary Evelyn Rose.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
The urn was handcrafted by Wes, Roger and Greg from barn wood from the Rose family homesteads.
