Richard B. Stell, 89 of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Church with the Reverend Karen Berg officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Monday at the Church. Interment will held in the North Lawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW Post 1856 and the Iowa National Guard. Bruce-Graham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.Richard (Dick) is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Janet Dahlke of Manson, IA, Jacqueline Tussing (Dean) of Fort Dodge, Rick Stell (Judy) of Fort Dodge and Josette Wyatt (Denny) of Barnum; nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Slotten (Lloyd) of Fort Dodge, Mary Heck (Elmer) of Webster City, IA, Bernita Pohl (Frank) of Fort Dodge and Connie OBrien (John) of Fort Dodge; and many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Jean Williams. He had ten step siblings who also preceded him in death.Richard Stell was born April 20, 1921 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to David and Ada Stell. On December 24, 1940, he was united in marriage to Evelyn L. Briggs of Fort Dodge. Richard served his country during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. Richard was awarded the Purple Heart. Dick Later worked for the Fort Dodge Community Schools for more then thirty five years. Fun times included family gatherings, taking motor trips with friends, remodeling his home, keeping his yard and automobile picture perfect and having coffee time out with his fellow friends.
