Memorial services for Richard A. Bloom will be Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge with Rev. John Elkin Sr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and the Fort Dodge V.F.W. Post 1856
Richard Allan Bloom was born August 18, 1933 in Estherville, Iowa to Merle and Mildred (Krahmer) Bloom. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High and then served 21 years in the United States Marine Corps. Richard was united in marriage to Francesca Carlidge and was married for over 53 years. After serving in the Marines, Richard drove truck for Umthun Trucking and then started his own trucking company. He delivered medical supplies and freight to area nursing homes and hospitals for 15 years and then retired. Richard enjoyed going to the YMCA, fishing and playing racquetball. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Richard died at his home on Thursday, November 15, 2018.
Richard is survived by his three sons; Rich (Chris) Bloom, Frank (Kim) Bloom and Merle (Sue) Bloom all of Fort Dodge, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren 1 great great grandchild and wife Fran. He is also survived by his siblings; Tommy, Patty, Mary, Sylvia, and Theresa. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Louis (Chip) and his siblings, Don, Mike, and Barbara.
