Raymond Johnson

Raymond Johnson, 78, of Marshalltown died Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 14th at 1:30 p.m. at the First Covenant Church with Rev. Charles Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow the service in Fort Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and for an hour prior to service time at the church.

Raymond was born April 5, 1927 the son of Hugo and Hildur (Anderson) Johnson.  Upon graduating from Fort Dodge High School he entered the United States Navy, serving with the 462nd Engineer Depot Company.  He was a member of First Covenant Church and was employed by the Great Western Railroad for over twenty years.

Mr. Johnson enjoyed his time spent at the Iowa Veterans Home.  He especially enjoyed participating in the many activities offered including fishing trips and trips to Des Moines to watch baseball games.  He also enjoyed making crafts and exercising.

Raymond is survived by one sister-in-law, Esther Johnson of Fort Dodge, four nephews and one niece.

Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Earl J. Johnson and Norman A. Johnson, and sister-in-law Francis Johnson.
