Funeral services for Phyllis Elaine Wilson, age 92, of Fort Dodge, will be held, 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be held at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, Monday, October 6th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge.
Phyllis Elaine Wilson (Watkins) was born February 9, 1922 in Neligh, Nebraska, the daughter of Harold and Ferne (Pyle) Watkins. She graduated in 1939 from Elgin High School.
On June 15, 1941, she married Leland Wilson in Lincoln, Nebraska. They lived in Victorville, California during the time he was in the Air Force, then for a time in Denver, Colorado prior to moving to Fort Dodge in 1957. Phyllis was a long-time employee of the Sears Roebuck Company and retired as manager of the catalog sales department in 1986. Following retirement, she worked as a foster grandmother until 2003.
Phyllis and Lee enjoyed square dancing, golfing, and playing cards. She was active with the Lanciers Drum and Bugle Corps, the Boat Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge.
Phyllis is survived by three sons; Richard and his wife, Darlene Wilson of Cross Lake, Minnesota, Douglas and his wife, Patricia Wilson of Fort Dodge, and David and his wife, Mari Wilson of Des Moines; a daughter, Pamela Schuster-Lawler of O'Fallon, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland in 2000, and a daughter, Peggy Ann Carr in 2007.
