Pamela A. Axness

Pamela “Pam” A. Axness, 84, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Friendship Haven (Journeys Health Center). Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, July 9, 2021, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South, with Pastor Emily Sauer of St. Olaf Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Entombment will take place at North Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Pamela Anne was born May 24, 1937, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, the daughter of Francis and Viola (Udell) Firnstahl. She graduated from Lincoln High in Wisconsin Rapids in 1955, and continued her education at the North West Institute of Technology. In November of 1958, she married Ernie Mori and to this union 4 daughters were born. The couple later divorced. In August of 1975, she was united in marriage to Wayne A. Axness. The family resided in Fort Dodge. Over the years, she worked as a Lab Tech at Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge Labs and the Department of Human Services as a Case Worker. She retired in 1999. Pam enjoyed spending time at the cabin on Lake Okoboji with her family, gardening, golfing, bowling and traveling. She also enjoyed shopping and had a passion for fashion. Pam had a gifted eye and was great at home décor and home designing. She had a great love for babies and animals – especially cats. Pam was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the Lakeside Golf Course.

Pam is survived by 4 daughters: Cheri (Jeff) Grell, Kim (Paul) Foreman, Michele (Brian) Bullock, and Celeste Mori; 8 grandchildren: Jacob, Adam and Laura Grell, Austin and Nathan Jorgensen, Peyton and Emily Bullock and Sierra Fredrickson; and 2 great grandchildren: Vienne and Rupert. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Wayne Axness in 2018; her sister: Karen Hanson; and the father of her children: Ernie Mori.
