Olivine Cue

Jennie Olivine Cue 97 of Fort Dodge died February 13, 2016 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. Funeral Services with Rev. Ron Kitterman officiating, will be held Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Friendship Haven Celebration Room. Visitation will be Thursday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.

Jennie Olivine Hayes Cue was born January 5, 1919 near Rockwell City, Iowa to John (Winnie) and Jennie Marie (Jager) Hayes. She attended country school and graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1937. She then attended Electronic School in Omaha, Nebraska. Olivine worked as a station agent and telegraph operator for the Illinois Central Railroad. She was united in marriage to Kenneth F. Cue on June 23, 1946 at the Methodist Church in Rockwell City, Iowa. Olivine loved traveling and visiting her children and grandchildren. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Olivine was a devoted babysitter, serving many families in the Fort Dodge area. She also took a lot of pride in volunteering at the hospital where she would sit with the terminally ill when their families couldn't be there. She also volunteered at the Lord's Cupboard, was a Cub Scout leader and enjoyed knitting.

She is survived by two sons, Charles (Karen) Cue of Windham, New Hampshire, and Steven (Kathy) Cue of Owensboro, Kentucky, four grandchildren; Stephanie (James) Plutnicki, Bryan (Jessica) Cue, Cheryl Cue, and Chris (Kathy) Cue, five great grandchildren, Alex, Matthew, Connor, and twins Abigail and Jason. Olivine is also survived by her sister, Vivian Hildreth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, grandson Bradley Michael Cue, brothers; Orin Hayes and Earl Hayes, sisters Mavis Barber, and Evelyn Krug, sisters-in-law Jane Hayes and Helen Hayes, and four brothers-in-law Keith Cue, Jim Hildreth, Bill Barber and Lyle Krug.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the new Alzheimer Wind being built at Friendship Haven.
