Mildred Armstrong

Funeral Services for Mildred Armstrong 90 of Fort Dodge will be Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Celebration Room at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge with Rev. Gary Bird officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be at a later date.

Mildred Marie Armstrong was born December 26, 1924 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Carl and Nellie (Enquist) Samuelson. She grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1943. She worked for the local telephone company right after graduation. She was united in marriage to Harold Armstrong on April 5, 1946 in Boone, Iowa. The couple settled in Fort Dodge where Mildred worked as an aid at the Lutheran Hospital. She then worked as a home health aid. She enjoyed reading and gardening. She was a member of the Lanyon Covenant Church.

On June 20, 2015 Mildred died at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

She is survived by her children; Carol (Jack) Summers of Cedar Rapids, Cheryl (Richard) Gnade of Webster City, Robert Armstrong of Monticello, FL and Bruce Armstrong of Duluth, MN. 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, daughter Fran, son William (Kathy) Armstrong, 2 brothers Richard and Earl, and grandson Kevin DeFoe.
