Michael E. Keck

Michael Elmer Keck, 47, of Des Moines, IA, formerly of Fort Dodge, IA, passed away of natural causes on February 15, 2022, at his home.  Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2022, at North Lawn Cemetery, 2201 N. 15th Street - Fort Dodge, with Kelly Moore officiating.  In lieu of flowers or memorials please donate to a charity of your choice.

Michael was born to David L. Keck and Deborah L. (Schadegg) Keck on May 15, 1974, in Fort Dodge, IA.  They later divorced.   Michael attended Fort Dodge Schools.  After high school he moved to Arizona and later returned to Des Moines, IA.

Michael is preceded in death by his father: David L. Keck; step-mother: Kandis Keck; grandfather: William E. Keck; grandmother: Betty A. Keck; aunt: Sandra Cory; cousin: William J. “Bill” Cory; and grandfather: retired Major Donald S. Schadegg.

Michael is survived by his mother:  Deborah L. Schuh and step-father:  Michael L. Schuh of Fort Dodge; half-brothers:  Lyle (Lauren) Schuh and Martin Schuh of Fort Dodge; half-sister:  Rhianna Mesmer Elkins; grandmother:  Catherine E. Schadegg of Pleasant Hill, CA; aunts:  Robyn Keck and Cynthia Schadegg of Fort Dodge; uncles:  Mark (Donna) Schadegg of Noble, OK and Steven Schadegg of Pleasant Hill, CA.  He is also survived by his cousins and a niece.

Michael worked at Joe’s Crab Shack in Des Moines, where he met so many of his good friends.  His favorite music is anything “Madonna”.  He was also known for his love of animals.
