Michael E. Ahrens

Michael E. Ahrens passed away on July 31, 2021, at Unity Point Hospital, after a short battle with cancer. He was born July 2, 1949 to Robert and Betty Ahrens in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He attended Fort Dodge Schools and graduated in 1967. That same year he joined the Navy and served four years. After his return from the service, he went to work with his father building houses. After his father retired, Michael worked for various other construction companies. At the time of his death, he was a school bus driver for Fort Dodge School District. He was united in marriage to Shirlee Castenson in 1990.

He is survived by his wife Shirlee, his mother Betty, siblings; Steve (Chris) Ahrens, Bruce (Rosa) Ahrens and Susan (Mike) Moore, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father, Bob, his mother-in-law and father-in-law and an infant nephew.

As per Michael's wishes, he was cremated with no services. Condolences may be sent to Shirlee at 3102 N 15th St. Lot 34 Fort Dodge.
