Melvin L. Young Jr.

Melvin L. Young Jr., 58, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Melvin was born November 6, 1962, in Fort Dodge, the son of Bonnie L. (Rank) and Melvin L. Young Sr. In 1980, he graduated from High School in Cottage Grove, MN. On July 2, 1984, he was united in marriage to Sandra Wildt in Webster City, IA and to this union two children were born: Nicole and Camilla. The couple later divorced. Melvin loved spending time with his family. He also loved driving truck and being on the road. Melvin enjoyed watching football & wresting, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings, cooking, scratch tickets, and operating heavy equipment.

Melvin is survived by his daughter: Camilla Young of Fort Dodge; 4 grandchildren: DeAnte, Malaki, LaKesha and Romeo; step-daughter: Cassandra Young-Rokes and husband Timothy; 3 step-grandchildren: Haley, Taylor and EvyAnna; 4 siblings: Tracy Young of Fort Dodge, Gary Young and wife Jennifer of Fort Dodge, Sandy Cole of Fort Dodge and Connie Thielen of Fort Dodge; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 2 fur babies: Trouble and Chester.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Nicole Young; and 3 brothers: Jimmy Young, Scott Young and Jerry Young.
