Melvin Glen “Chuck” Jones 88 of Fort Dodge died Tuesday May 14, 2013 at his home. Services are Monday 11:00 a.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home.

Visitation Monday 9 am until time of service. Burial North Lawn Cemetery. Luncheon will be served at the Fort Dodge V.F.W following the services. He was born March 15, 1925 in Fort, Iowa to Charles and Pearl (Mericle) Jones.

He grew up in Fort Dodge and attended Fort Dodge schools. He was united in marriage to Betty Anderson in 1944 and to this union four children were born, Ronald, Dennis, Sherri and Connie.

Melvin worked for Gus Glaser and then Land O Lakes until he retired at the age of 70. He enjoyed hunting , fishing, and especially bowling and woodworking. He is survived by his children; Ronald (Iris) Jones of Fort Dodge, Dennis (Carol) Jones of Fort Dodge, and Sherri Jones, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters; Lois Harvey of Fort Dodge, Rose Schoon of Cedar Rapids and Betty (Edward) Fawcett of Fort Dodge.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty in 1997, daughter Connie in 2009 and 9 siblings.

Fort Dodge Area Funeral and Cremation Service, Bruce Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
