Maurine Ottoson
Maurine T. Ottoson died Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Tompkins Memorial Health Center, Fort Dodge.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday December 20, 2008 at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Grindberg officiating. Interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 until 7 p.m. Friday at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home.
Maurine was born in rural Badger on December 17, 1916 to Will and Myrtle Thorson. She married Robert Ottoson in June 1940. After his return from the Pacific Theater, they began their business, Ottoson Plumbing and Heating, where Maurine assisted in the office.
Mrs. Ottoson taught in rural schools, worked in various West Coast World War II industries, taught piano lessons, was an accompanist, arranger of music and choir and small group director. Maurine's passion was music. She served her church, community, family, and friends using her musical gifts.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1987, her parents, and her younger sister Lois.
She is lovingly remembered by her older sister Pearl Rose, Mukilteo, WA, nieces Kris (Keith) Roberson, Oklahoma City, OK, Cynthia (Arnie) Irwin, Eldridge, IA, Janice (Rog) Ranzinger, Minneapolis, MN, Mary (David) Deal of Columbus, OH, their children and grandchildren. Maurine enjoyed many close friendships and will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to thank Trinity Hospice and the second floor staff of Tompkins Memorial Health Center for their tender loving care of Maurine.
