Mass of Christian burial for Marjorie Catherine Hoffman will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., May 14, 2014, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Graettinger. Monsignor Michael Sernett will officiate the services. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13, from 4-7 p.m. with a Parish Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Graettinger. Burial will take place at the St. Jacob Cemetery following the service. Tim Kulow, of Bruce Funeral Home, Fort Dodge, is in charge of the arrangements. |
Marge Hoffman, age 80, of Graettinger, Iowa passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital on May 11, 2014. Marge was born on January 17, 1934 to Joseph and Pauline (Eifler) Berger in Mt. Carmel, IA. She grew up in Mt. Carmel, graduating from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel High School. On June 10, 1954, Marge was united in marriage to Lambert Hoffman of Carroll. To this union nine children were born. Lambert and Marge farmed east of Graettinger for 40 years and continued to live on the farm after retiring. Marge was a cook at the Graettinger School for 19 years. She loved playing cards, crocheting and baking her favorite cinnamon rolls and buns for anyone that stopped by. Marge treasured her family and friends and will be truly missed by all those that knew and loved her. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Graettinger.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60 years, Lambert; children: Jane of Spencer, Mary (Dennis) Barrick of Ruthven, Luvern (Denise) of Estherville, Darrell (Tammy) of Spencer, Doug and friend LeAnn Dietrich of Graettinger, Dean (Teaner) of Graettinger, Carol (Kelly) Schany of Blair, NE., Danny (Lisa) of Graettinger, Jeff (Dawn) of Graettinger. 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Brother Joe (Jean) Berger of Webster City; sister Helen Henn of Neligh, NE. Sister-in-laws: Rosella Berger, Millie Hoffman, Arlene Eischeid, all of Carroll and Dorothy Hoffman of Ruthven; and many extended family members and friends.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Pauline Berger; Son-in-law Jerry Naber; Daughter-in-law Donna Hoffman. Sisters: Marian Drey and Rose Berger. Brothers: Carl Berger, Othmar Berger, August Berger, and Leonard Berger. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Louis & Johanna Hoffman, Joe Hoffman, Albert Hoffman, Msgr. Lawrence Hoffman, Leonard & Ethel Hoffman, John & Rose Hoffman, Mary Ann & Joe Handlos, Andy Hoffman, Norbert Hoffman, Marvin Eischeid, Joseph Drey, Harold Henn, and Marita Berger, along with nieces and nephews.
