Marjorie Akins
Marjorie Akins, 81, of Fort Dodge died Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Tompkins Health Center, Fort Dodge.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Marcia Rich officiating. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery
Survivors include her children; Steve (Mary Jane) Akins of Lanyon, Iowa; Tim Akins and partner Gordon Horton of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Luanne Akins of Fort Dodge; Laurie (Norman) Arndt of Fort Dodge; grandchildren; Heather Akins and Jason Akins, both of Harcourt, Iowa; sisters Betty (John) Rump and Paula Haddad, both of Omaha, Nebraska; lifelong friend; Naomi Radford of Fort Dodge; and beloved cat, Miss Kitty.
Marjorie Ann Haring was born May 10, 1924 to Doris (Grosklaus) and Paul Haring in Fort Dodge where she lived her entire life. She married Gayle L. Akins on February 23, 1946 in Troy, Kansas and they made their home in Fort Dodge where Marjorie was a homemaker and also worked at The Messenger for 15 years. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian faith and was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fort Dodge.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gayle in 1990, her parents and a brother, Donald Haring.
Memorials may be left to the Fort Dodge Humane Society or the discretion of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
