Marietta H. Westphal Guderian
Marietta H. Westphal Guderian, 87, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday December 26, 2007 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Tim Geitz officiating. Interment will follow in the Fort Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and will continue Saturday one hour prior to services at the church. Those wishing to express their sympathy may direct memorials to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Ladies Aide. Marietta was born August 20, 1920 the daughter of Alfred and Tena (Klocko) Teyen in Pomeroy, IA. On December 25, 1939 Marietta was united in marriage to Vernon G. Westphal. To this union four children were born. Following Vernons death Marietta was united in marriage to LeRoy Guderian on June 26, 1999. Marietta's faith and family came before all. She was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school for many years, participating in the sewing circle, and volunteered wherever the church needed her. Her sewing pastime also included crocheting and quilting in which her passion lives on. Marietta always enjoyed her coffee time with her friends at HyVee in the morning and ready to go for a frosty at Wendys if lunch was mentioned. She loved to garden and can her bountiful harvest that the Lord always provided. Those thankful for having shared in Mariettas life include her husband; LeRoy, children; Vernetta (John) Kolesar of Badger, IA, Janet (Jim) Lennon of Fort Dodge, IA, Shirley (Chuck) Ballard of Ankeny, IA, Jim (Sharon) Westphal of Miami, OK, two step-daughters; Linda (Dick) Ault of Clinton, WI, Judy Guderian of Denison, IA, one sister; Ann Ringer, six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marietta was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband; Vernon, two sisters; Ella Warehime-Thoma, Laura Tehen, one brother; Lawrence Tehen and an infant grandson; Charles Lennon.
