Marian Carroll Beisser, 99, of Fort Dodge, Iowa passed away peacefully on October 31, 2021.
She was born on a farm east of Fort Dodge, Iowa on September 12, 1922 and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School (FDSH) in 1940. She and her husband, J. Fred, known as “Fritz” opened Beisser Lumber in Fort Dodge in 1953 where she worked for over 65 years. Beisser Lumber has since expanded to the metro area, establishing in Grimes in 1999, and then Eastern Iowa in Coralville in 2001. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Dodge all her life.
Marian is survived by her son, Kim David Beisser (Sally) of West Des Moines, Deanna Beisser, daughter in law, of Scottsdale, AZ, half-brother Dennis Carroll (Kathy) of Fort Dodge and four grandchildren including Laura Beisser and Benoit Beisser of Scottsdale, AZ, Andrea Klinefelter (George) of Spring Mills, PA, and Dr. Sarah (David) Ling of Waukee, IA and sister-in-law Marita Neslund of Carlisle, PA and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She loved her four great-grandchildren Gracie (age 6) and Archie Ling (age 3) and Riley (age 6) and Tristan (age 4) Klinefelter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Fred, father and mother Lyle and Tilla Carroll, and son Dr. William Thomas Beisser known as “Nick.”
She was known for her enduring faith, wisdom, generosity, and business acumen. She dedicated her life to her family and the success of Beisser Lumber. Those who knew her well know she loved chocolate, anything pink, sports such as football, golf, and horseracing. She would pick number 5 every time. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family especially thanks Joe Kayser and employees of Fort Dodge Beisser Lumber along with caretaker, Vickee Hull, for their loving attention to her needs.
Memorials may be left to the First Baptist Church or the Paula Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge. A celebration of life will be held this coming spring.
