Malcolm "Cal" Hendrie

Malcolm “Cal” Hendrie, 84, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Saturday, September 23, 2023,at Friendship Haven.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Friendship Haven, 420 Kenyon Road, with Denise Halverson officiating.  Graveside services at Calvary Cemetery in Pocahontas, IA will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the family.   Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.

Malcolm was born January 1, 1939, in Dunoon Scotland, the son of Malcolm and Ann (Nichols) Hendrie.  He graduated from Washington State and continued his education at various colleges.  In 1957, Cal enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Cold War until his honorable discharge in 1961.  He worked as an electrical contractor and owned/operated Ampere Electric for 30 years until his retirement in 2005.  On June 25, 2004, he married Kathleen O’Connor Donnell in Fullerton, CA.  Cal loved scuba diving in the ocean and being outdoors.  Cal was a Christian man, humble, kind and giving and will be deeply missed.

Cal is survived by his partner and wife of 38 years:  Kathy Hendrie of Fort Dodge, four children: Marilynn Hendrie, Sean (Ariana) Hendrie, Erin Hendrie, Chris (Stacy) Donnell all from California; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one brother:  Allan (Maureen) Hendrie of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers:  Jim Hendrie and Ian Hendrie.
