Lyle ‘Jake’ Potter
Lyle ‘Jake’ Potter, 75, of Duncombe, died Friday, June 10, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center with the Rev. Stephen Peters of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW Post 1856. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Lyle was born May 4, 1930 the son of Wes and Leila (Wells) Potter in Webster City, IA. Jake was raised in the Fort Dodge area. Jake enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953. On June 22, 1954 Jake was united in marriage to Donna Stewart at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA.
Jake always had a car in restoration, he thoroughly enjoyed the countless hours he spent tinkering and rebuilding as well as the time he spent passing on his passion to his nephews. He also counted on having a good time at the casinos whether they won or lost. Jake loved spending quiet time enjoying the outdoors and casting the old rod and reel.
Those thankful for having shared in Jake’s life include his wife of 50 years; Donna, three brothers in law; Orlo (Doris) Stewart, Clyde VanArsdale, and David Lane, and fifteen nieces and nephews, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Potter was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Marge VanArsdale, and Mary Lou Lane, and one brother; Larry Potter.
