Lubertus John Munson, 84 of Kamrar, died Thursday, May 25, 2006 on the family farm.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church, Kamrar, with the Rev. John Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 12 until 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Lubertus was born October 24, 1921 the son of John and Martha (Brinkema) Munson on the family farm near Kamrar.  He was a member of the Kamrar High School Class of 1940.  Following high school Lubertus immediately started his life long passion of farming in which he successfully continued until 2000 when he retired.  He also received the prestigious Century Farm award in 2000.

On February 17, 1946 Lubertus was united in marriage to Elaine Arbaugh in Webster City, IA.

During the winter months from 1967 until 1988 Lubertus worked at Iowa State University in the Agronomy Department breeding corn.

Lubertus was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he had served as a Trustee and Deacon. 

Those thankful for having shared in Lubertus life include his wife Elaine, one son; The Reverend John L. and his wife Susan Munson of Stevensville, Michigan, two grandchildren; Nathan Munson of Minneapolis, MN, Kari Riskedahl of Columbus, OH, one sister in law; Bettimae Mamminga, two nieces; Lila Berglund, and Maxine Mechaelsen and one nephew; Lowell Mechaelsen.

Mr. Munson was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Lois Mechaelsen.
