Lois Mildred Anderson was born January 3, 1918 in Burt, Iowa to Lyle and Mary (Hansen) Mann. She attended school in Burt through the 8th grade and then graduated from Decorah High School where she took Normal Teachers Training. She taught in the Webster County School System for several years. She was united in marriage to Melvin Anderson on February 6, 1941 at Riverside Methodist Church parsonage. The couple farmed until retirement in 1968. Her hobbies included gardening, playing cards and quilting. She especially loved being a grandmother and having the opportunity to nurture children. Lois was a member of Fulton Lutheran Church in Moorland and the Fulton WELCA. Lois Mildred Anderson died at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center on Sunday, April 6, 2014. She is survived by her children; Gary (Joyce) Anderson of Fort Dodge, Sandra (Robert) George of Humboldt, Sharon (Don) Clark of Fort Dodge, and Allyn (Eileen) Anderson of LeMars, ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren two great great grandchildren, six step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Fay L. Mann of Estherville. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin in 1999 and a sister Letha. Funeral Services will be Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge with Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday one hour prior to services.
