Lester Denekas
Lester Raymond Denekas, 72, of Kamrar, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday March 12, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church, Kamrar, with the Rev. John K. Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 191 of Webster City. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the church. Lester Raymond Denekas was born May 30, 1932 the son of Ed and Ollie (Luppes) Denekas on a farm near Jewell, IA. He attended rural school at Liberty Township.
On December 3, 1950 Lester was united in marriage to Edna Chantrill in Blairsburg, IA. He later served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. His tour lasted from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954. Upon his return home he farmed for many years in the Kamrar area.
Lester was very active in the First Presbyterian Church serving as Clerk of Session for numerous years.
Lester is survived by his wife Edna, son Ron and his friend Heidi Leksell of Kamrar, daughter and son in law May Ann and Michael Hedrick of Osage, granddaughter Christy and her husband Brad Wahl of Ames, grandson Bryan Denekas of Ames, and great grandsons Keaton and Leyton Wahl of Ames, and a daughter in law Nancy Denekas of Ames.
Mr. Denekas was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Ollie Denekas.
