Leslie A. Lucas
Leslie Alan Lucas, 78, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, September 7, 2006 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.
A gathering of friends and family will be held from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Leslie was born May 8, 1928 the son of Samuel Rutherford and Ruth Muriel (Davis) Lucas in Boone, IA. He was raised in Boone and graduated from Boone High School. In 1946 Leslie enlisted in the United States Navy serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1948. He was later united in marriage to Ada Mae Harrington. To this union one daughter was born. In 1952 Leslie began his employment with Avco New Idea as a Quality Control Manager. He left Avco New Idea in 1971 when the company closed its Fort Dodge operation. On November 1, 1969 Leslie was united in marriage to Edith “Toddy” Klinger in Pella, IA.
Leslie loved the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, including reloading his own ammunition, and going golfing. The couple spent many years traveling and living in their RV. In the most recent years Leslie became very fond of working on his computer. He was a member of the Rifle and Pistol Club and the Radio Control Club and held numerous offices in both.
Those thankful for having shared in Leslies life include his wife Toddy Lucas, one daughter Sherry Marsh of St. Paul, MN, three sisters; Elnora Sackett of Tulsa, OK, Jean Aspenson of Fort Dodge, Gretchen Eppel of Spokane, WA, one stepson; Robert Klinger of Fort Dodge, one half sister; Sharon Lucas of Stockton, CA, 5 step grandchildren, and one step great grandson.
Mr. Lucas was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother William Lucas.
