Leone M. Johnson
Leone M. Johnson, 91, of Fort Dodge died Sunday, March 19, 2006 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of Roy E. Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew Martens officiating. Burial will follow the service in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Leone Martha Wolter was born on April 18, 1914 in Gaylord, Sibley County, Minnesota the daughter of Charles Wolter and Martha (Goetsch) Wolter. She had her schooling in Gaylord, Sibley County schools. Leone was married to Arthur L. Vinson in Minnesota and they later moved to Fort Dodge and eventually divorced. Leone was united in marriage to Roy E. Johnson in 1962 and they resided in Fort Dodge. Leone lived at Deer Creek Apartments and later became a resident of the Marian Home in 2003.
Leone was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, first in Minnesota and then at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, followed by Grace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge.
She was active in the sewing circles where she helped with cutting blocks of material for quilts for missions. She was previously a member of the Melodibells.
Survivors include her children; son and daughter-in-law Richard C. and Sandra Vinson and son and daughter-in-law Dennis L. and Carolee Vinson, both of Fort Dodge; daughter and son-in-law Doris and Tom Andreoli of Glastonbury, CT; and step children and their spouses; LeRoy and Joy Johnson, Mount Pleasant; Marilyn and Lyle Coon, Lohrville, IA; and Paul and Beverly Johnson, Lucas, Iowa. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 17 step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews in Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and her husband, Roy. Memorials may be sent to the Grace Lutheran Church in honor of Leone.
Leone will be remembered for her warm and gentle spirit and will always be dearly loved and missed by her family.
