LaVerna E. Proeschold, 90, of Perry, formerly from Fort Dodge, IA died Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the Perry Health Care Center.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Friday, September 17, 2004 at Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2004 at the funeral home with the Rev. Allen Henderson officiating. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery.

LaVerna was born December 15, 1913, the daughter of Lena (Anderson) and Eddie S. Haroldson in Lincoln, Nebraska.

LaVerna attended and graduated from the Graettinger High School in 1933. She was united in marriage on May 4, 1935 to Arthur C. Proeschold in Gowrie.

LaVerna worked at the Lutheran Hospital as a switchboard operator and admissions clerk. She was not only active in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church but also was the oldest member. LaVerna has painted many beautiful oil paintings. She enjoyed watching Bob Ross to learn his techniques on painting. Music has always been very important in her life and she loved dancing to bands such as the “Polka Dots.” LaVerna was a talented violinist and organist. She loved plants, having a “green thumb” for indoor and outdoor plants. LaVerna’s children will always remember their mother by her main qualities: “her great sense of humor, her faith in God, and the love for her children.”

Those that will cherish LaVerna’s memories are her 5 children, Glen (Ruth) Proeschold, of Pueblo, CO; Ronald (Joan) Proeschold of Cannon Lake, CA; Peggy (Arnie) Ellsbury of Perry, IA; Marlys (Jim) Blair of Little Rock, AR; Bruce Proeschold of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; 1 sister, Virginia (Albert) Moore of San Juan Capistrano, CA; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

LaVerna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur Proeschold; 3 brothers, Palmer, Alvin, Henry and one sister, Theresa.
