Larry L. Cibert, 73, of Humboldt, IA, died Monday, June 24, 2019, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 1005 11th Avenue North – Humboldt, with Rev. Aaron Flatau officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the church service. Interment will take place at the Indian Mound Cemetery – Humboldt, with Military Honors conducted by the Humboldt VFW Post 5240 and American Legion Post 116. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Larry Lee Cibert was born February 2, 1946, in Fort Dodge, IA, the son of James and Martha (Holmes) Cibert. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1965. In November of 1965, Larry was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge in November of 1967, Larry served 4 years in the Reserves. Over the years, Larry worked for the City of Fort Dodge Sanitation Department, Hawkeye 66 Service Station, H.K. Thompson Oil Company, Northside Service and the Telephone Company. Larry's family was important to him and he loved spending time with them – especially during the holiday's. Larry enjoyed pheasant hunting. He also enjoyed trout fishing in Northeast Iowa and Canada. Larry was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the VFW.
Larry is survived by his son: Donald Cibert and wife Lynette of Canton, MO; 3 step-children: Bret Peterson and wife Karen of Humboldt, Bart Peterson and wife Robyn of Dakota City, IA, and Rachael Stockdale of Humboldt; 3 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 6 step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister: Nancy Michael.
